Sustainability

Responsible and sustainable

The great demand last year, with a total of around 1.9 million visitors to the Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH events in Germany and Europe, showed how much people enjoy the glowing color magic and atmospheric light art of these events. We have done a great deal to reduce the energy consumption of the events as much as possible in order to be able to hold this special event in the face of the energy crisis and at the same time maintain the first-class quality of the lighting design.

Key points of our sustainability concept

Energy consumption

Every Christmas Garden is individual, so electricity consumption varies accordingly. The average energy consumption for the light installations is roughly equivalent to the amount of electricity needed to start a standard coffee filter machine once or to iron for 16 minutes, for example.

Electricity savings

The lighting design and pathway lighting consist of 90 percent LEDs, which results in an 80 percent energy saving compared to conventional light sources. The lowest wattage required is always selected for the application. In addition, the traditional natural ice rinks, which are very popular with the public, were not included. The lighting of the circuit has been reduced to a safety-relevant minimum. We have also optimized our work processes so that it now only takes 30 minutes to set up the lighting installations.

Sustainability

From the catering partners to the wood suppliers for the fire bowls and the employees' means of transport - the majority of all energy-relevant aspects have been optimized in terms of sustainability. This includes transportation with e-golf carts, the use of mulled wine taps with instantaneous water heaters, the largely compostable packaging of the food and the deposit system for glasses and cups with an on-site dishwashing service. Most of the electricity used is green electricity from sustainable energy sources and no generators are used.

Future-oriented

We - the team at Christmas Garden Deutschland GmbH - have not only continuously improved the energy-conscious concept in the past, but have also adapted it to a greater extent for the current event period in particular. Our goal is still to implement the Christmas Garden in the most resource-friendly way possible. That is why we are constantly working on the further development and optimization of our sustainability concept.
